Intelligent routing for multi-homed networks
Noction is a privately funded technology company, established in 2011, with offices in US and Europe. It is focused on the BGP network optimization technology that takes care of the complicated and time consuming route selection processes for various service and content providers as well as enterprises. The company’s product improves network performance by an average of 30-50 percent; substantially reducing latency and packet loss, managing traffic commit levels and intelligently rerouting congestion and outages.

Network Products Guide: Which multiple hats does a today’s CEO have to wear? What best practices can you share with tech CEO’s who are early in their career?

Grigore Raileanu:
It’s very easy for a CEO to get lost in the variety of business activities, placing off the strategic, long-term company progress planning. However, a good CEO should always remain a great visionary, moving the company forward and directing the company growth. CEO’s broad and comprehensive knowledge of all matters related to the organization should always be coupled with the strategic company development thinking.

The most important advice I would give to starting tech CEOs is to constantly motivate your team, as the employees are the tech company’s most important asset. Build upon, consolidate and improve your team. Coupled with a clear vision and strategy, this will increase your chances of effectively running a successful company. It is relatively easy to initiate a business, but it’s really hard to build an efficient and scalable system out of it.

Network Products Guide: How did you come up with an idea to develop a network optimization product? How big is the market for such a product?

Grigore Raileanu:
About 10 years ago, there were around five companies, offering BGP network optimization products, however most of them have been acquired by large corporations, with their operations being discontinued. We noticed a visible demand for the intelligent routing technology. Noction was launched in response to the growing need for automated network optimization.

BGP routing intelligence is truly a niche market, represented only by a few companies nowadays.  However, it holds a lot of potential, customer-wise; as an increasing number of enterprises and service providers start to realize the necessity of intelligent routing in their networks.

Network Products Guide: What are the networking changes and trends that you’ve seen evolve in the last couple of years?

Grigore Raileanu
: It’s worth to mention the rapid development of Software Defined Networking (SDN) - a viable solution to security, virtualization, manageability, mobility and agility needs in today’s networks. We see the rapid bandwidth growth along with the evolution of content delivery networks, as more and more companies are moving their infrastructure into the cloud. The end-user expectations for speed and reliability are growing fast, while service and content providers are trying to automate their operations and improve performance in order to satisfy their clients’ demands.

Network Products Guide: What are the new offerings that Noction is planning to bring to the table this year? What do you expect Noction to look like in 5 years?

Grigore Raileanu: Noction is continuously enhancing its intelligent routing optimization product, consistently adding new  features to the platform. In 2013 we plan to add inbound traffic optimization capability to our Intelligent Routing Platform along with a number of other enhancements.

Noction is rapidly growing, becoming a significant player in the BGP network optimization solutions market. We anticipate a significant overall growth in the following five years both in terms of revenues, customer base, and market share. Noction will further solve the service providers and enterprises network performance challenges, continuously enhancing its product’s functionality.
