AMAX Introduces Petabyte-Scale NAS Clustered Storage Solutions for Oil and Gas Exploration
Next-Generation Parallel Storage Platform Delivers High Availability, Performance and Scalability for Data Intensive Environments

DENVER – October 18, 2010. AMAX, a leader in HPC solutions, today unveiled the ClusterMax Stor-X, a new high capacity, petabyte-scale NAS storage platform that is redefining the limits of access speeds, high availability, performance and scalability. The ClusterMax Stor-X is an ideal solution for data intensive oil and gas deployments requiring extreme performance, massive storage capacity, and robust parallel file storage management features.

The new ClusterMax Stor-X solution represents the next-generation of parallel storage platforms based on the latest InfiniBand QDR technology. The ClusterMax Stor-X achieves massive scalability to the hundreds of petabytes and utilizes a parallel file system to achieve extremely high data throughput. AMAX’s advanced storage solution was designed to work with large-scale HPC cluster deployments and state-of-the-art supercomputer systems that require unique storage configurations to support the massive data sets typical of scientific research. With the ClusterMax Stor-X petabyte-scale storage platform, AMAX is now capable of deploying large-scale HPC clusters running up to thousands of cores while supporting up to 720TB of hot-swap storage capacity per 42U rack space to store, process and accelerate the huge amount of raw data collected in today’s oil & gas applications.

The ClusterMax Stor-X is another step further in satisfying the capacity and performance demands of the geophysical sector, giving IT managers plenty of choices to match their storage environment to their business requirements, said Jean Shih, President of AMAX. “AMAX’s high performance storage solutions and ease of management make us an ideal solution for scientific organizations looking to accelerate results as they develop new ways to explore the planet and its resources.”

AMAX will be demonstrating its latest ClusterMax Series cluster platforms at the Society of Exploration Geophysicists International Exposition (SEG) at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado, in the booth #2482, October 17th through 20th.
