Product/Technology: Base Station Systems WPT26-T2622-001
Hardware or Software? Hardware
First Launched: February 2008
What it does? Powerwave’s universal WiMAX Digital Radio Head (DRH) is an IEEE 802.16e transceiver offering multi-carrier operation and class-leading efficiency, while delivering twice the output power of competitive solutions. Featuring a flexible CPRI interface, it offers up to 20 MHz of instantaneous, multi-carrier operation, with built-in flexibility that allows key parameters, such as channel bandwidth, output power and TDD ratios to be modified, without requiring firmware upgrades.
What makes it Innovative? The WiMAX DRH delivers twice the output power for the same DC input of some competitive products. Unlike other WiMAX radio heads, which only support 10 MHz instantaneous bandwidth and single-carrier operation, the WiMAX DRH supports 20 MHz bandwidth, enabling operators to deploy a wider range of carrier configurations, optimizing coverage and capacity without requiring hardware/software upgrades.
