What it does? 3ware capitalizes on proven serial storage expertise to take users from parallel SCSI to Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) with the 3ware 9690SA-4I.
The 3ware 9690SA-4I is a high-performance, 4-port SAS/SATA hardware RAID controller that dramatically reduces the cost of 3ware SAS ownership from $795 to $395. Four SAS and/or SATA drives can be directly connected, yet it’s expandable to 128 SAS/SATA devices when attached to a standard SAS backplane.
An optional Battery Backup Unit with integrated write journaling and remote battery mounting capability provides added data protection. RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, and Single Disk are supported.
